Review
Chris Carpenter came to wine country via Chicago with a marketing degree. Before he knew it, he was studying at UC Davis and off to Italy working with the Antinori family as well as studying in Umbria. He has taken this experience and applied it to the soils of Mount Veeder, making wine that respects the history of the place. This wine is a wonderful representation of how balance works with Cab. Thick blackberry fruit on the nose mingles with subtle oak that is only present to add complexity. The palate is powerful yet restrained with a tannin structure that exists among the core of fruit not apart from it. And to top it all off the lingering finish keeps your mind on the next sip.
