Mazzei Ser Lapo Chianti Classico Riserva 2018 Review
The Mazzei family has been involved in Chianti's wine industry since the 14th century. This wine is an homage to Ser Lapo Mazzei, an ancestor who was widely regarded as a pioneer of Chianti Classico. The label of this wine even includes a few lines of text from one of his historic documents. Today, this wine represents Ser Lapo's love of wine and push for more quality-focused wine production in Tuscany. A classic example from the region, this wine has tart cherry on the nose and a hint of cranberry. There's a whisper of cooking herbs and cedar that add to the complexity. The palate offers bright fruit with medium weight and a well-balanced tannic frame. This bottle and a bowl of pasta will have you singing Puccini.
