Massolino Dolcetto d'Alba 2021 Review

Founded in 1896 by Giovanni Massolino, this family-owned winery began production in earnest in the 1930s, building a cellar just below their home. As they grew, they moved across the street and expanded the cellar to preserve the history of their home and stay on the land they love. This Dolcetto is an expression of that land and their dedication to the vineyards. Dolcetto means “little sweet one,” but this wine is so much more. It has a wonderful nose of blackberries and earth. The palate is soft and deep with a slight tannic frame, but it’s that depth that will get you. It’s the depth that will have your palate begging for another sip. This is a crowd pleaser if there ever was one and a great standard to judge Dolcetto wines on going forward.
