Massican Annia 2022 Review

Winemaker Dan Petroski focuses on white wine in Napa Valley. On the surface that doesn’t sound too extraordinary. But when you factor in that the dominant grape of the region is Cabernet Sauvignon — he’s shaking things up a bit. This wine is the definition of his focus. Inspired by the wines of Italy's Friuli region, this expression is a blend of Ribolla Gialla, Tocai Friulano, and Chardonnay. The nose draws you in immediately with a slight bit of pear here and some ginger there along with wet-rock minerality. The palate is textured and grippy with amazing acidity. It's a refreshing wine, but don't assume that means it's lacking complexity.
