Marine Layer Dutton-Upp Road Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022 Review

Marine Layer prides itself on producing wines from the cooler climates of the Sonoma Coast. This wine comes from a twelve-acre plot with a steep slope and shallow soils. The vines work harder to find nutrients, and the results are wines with more concentration, like this absolutely gem of a wine. The nose is deep, rich, and oaky. The oak is prominent but adds to the mocha notes with some underlying umami vibes of pepper and herbs. The mouthfeel is epic. Everything is in its right place: the fruit, the acidity, the body, everything is just right and results in a fleshy, juicy, round, and elegant savory and deep fruit experience.
