MAN Jan Fiskaal Coastal Region Merlot 2017 Review

This Merlot is like YO! Not because it's heavy, but because it's very different than the run-of-the-mill. It's juicy and savory at the same time with a plush palate and aromas of blueberry and pepper running through, along with some bright plum fruit. Then, things get interesting, as black olive notes waft up in tandem with what I can only describe as cornichon and a plume of smoke. The acidity is high, which further pronounces these characteristics. This wine won’t inspire poetry but will definitely inspire a braai (South African for cookout).
