Lagavulin Offerman Edition: Caribbean Rum Cask Finish Aged 11 Years Review
From the Caribbean to the Isle of Islay, this year’s trans-Atlantic Offerman Edition from Lagavulin uses rum casks to great avail, with the barrel influence tempering the whisky’s robust peat profile. Notes of red berries and vanilla sweetness swirl together on the nose, giving way to a balanced, but more smoke-forward profile on the palate. For those who may have been previously intimidated by peat, this expression offers a smooth introduction.
