Kobal Sauvignon 2022 Review

Kobal is situated in the Haloze Hills appellation of Slovenia, one of the oldest winemaking regions in the country dating back 2,000 years. Here they traditionally call the grape just "Sauvignon", dropping the "Blanc", because it’s the only Sauvignon they work with. This wine is absolutely stunning. The alcohol is on the high side, which is a good thing in this case, bringing perceived depth on the nose. It has just the right amount of reductive qualities — with bruised fruit notes and some citrus. The palate round and deep with grippy concentrated fruit and wonderful acidity. This wine is the whole package and so damn good.
