Kabaj Rebula 2017 Review

Orange wine is the buzzword, amber is the true color, and skin-contact is the industry term. The reason? Not all orange wine is orange — like this amazing orange-tinged wine. When in the glass, you don’t see full-on orange, but this native Italian/Slovenian grape Rebula (Ribolla in Italy) is a skin-contact wine. The inherent flesh of the grapes that made this wine come through on the nose along with wet stone and bruised green apples. This is a traditional “orange” wine with a dry yet textured palate and excellent acidity. This is a wine in need of protein, whether that’s a cheese plate, skirt steak, or rotisserie chicken.
