Hirsch Selected Whiskeys The Horizon
Review
This bourbon comprises a blend of two rye-forward, Indiana-distilled whiskeys. The larger portion of the blend arrives at just under 5 years old. The second portion, produced using an even higher-rye mash bill, aged in barrel for over 6 and a half years. The character of rye is — unsurprisingly — prominent throughout, presenting itself in the form of prickly black pepper aromas and a spicy bite on the finish of the palate. Red petal and dried cherry notes build further nuance, and make this a great weekday sipping bourbon.
