Gehricke Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2016 Review
This is a comfy Chardonnay with an eclectic flavor profile and nice coating palate. One of the successes of this wine is the winemakers’ ability to keep it vibrant and complex while inching the alcohol up to 14%. The nose opens with classic apple and pear notes, then slips into some lime and tangerine notes. As oxygen has it’s way with the wine in your glass, pineapple and kiwi vibes come wafting up with a hint of mint carried over from that lime note. The wine then bows out with a light toast and notes of quiet french butter. The heat from the alcohol, balanced by good acidity, gives just the right amount of weight.
