Review
Periklis and Stergios Tatsis can roughly trace their lineage back to a part of Greece that was once Bulgaria. They "were always grape growers and winemakers and it had been the trade of the family since time immemorial.” When the family moved south to Goumenissa, Macedonia, they carried on the tradition with the Xinomavro vines of the region. The brothers show their inherited skills by always trying to improve their wine while using sustainable methods. This bottle is so tied to their story. It drinks and feels like years of experience went into it. It has an almost fortified aroma, with a hint of cranberry and a dollop of cherry. This is a wine from 2009 and is shining with the tannins still framing the wine, buoyed by fresh acidity after all these years. It is drinking well right now and deserves to be on a holiday table.
