Domaine la Tour Vieille 'La Pinède' 2015
Review
Domaine La Tour Vielle is located in Collioure, an appellation in Southeast France's Roussillon region. Located close to the Spanish border, Collioure is part of an area referred to as French, or Northern Catalonia. The “La Pinède” bottling is a blend of 80% Grenache, with the remainder consisting of Carignan, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. True to the terroir of the area, the wine has a lush ripeness similar to a Spanish Garnacha, and an herbal quality similar to a Grenache from the Rhone. The color is medium-dark, and aromas include blackberries and rosemary. The body is medium-full with a very bright, mineral-driven texture, and flavors of bramble fruit with a hint of oregano and olive tapanade. The wine is rich and complex, but bright, fruit-driven, and very quaffable. This is a good choice for anyone who enjoys lush French wine, and will even appeal to fans of ripe style Pinot Noir.
