Ryme Cellars Grenache 2021 Review

Though Ryan and Megan Glaab started Ryme Cellars with a focus on southern Italian varieties, the their Grenache is unique as well. This wine was made with grapes sourced from the stunning Petrichor vineyard, a two-and-a-half acre site planted in volcanic soils 1,100 feet above sea level in the Mayacamas Mountains. The use of whole-cluster fermentation and used barrel aging comes through in the savory components of this wine.  It has a lean nose, with some soil and orange zest mingling together. There's some juicy berry notes alongside black cherries and herbs on the palate. The fruit is bright and punchy, as opposed to jammy, as some might expect from Grenache. This is a food wine for sure.
