Domaine du Roc des Boutires Pouilly-Fuisse 'Aux Bouthieres' 2016 Review
Coming from the heart of this AOC in the alkaline clay soils of Pouilly this wine is elegant with some frilled edges that are unmistakably Maconnais. The nose opens with a whiff of butterscotch and pear, playing with a little bit of citrus (tangerine?) and a hint of banana. On the palate these all carry over with added notes of the sweeter side of acacia and dried coconut. The mouthfeel is at once clean and mineraled and at the same time deep, with a dry slight bitter edge that contrasts the elegance of the wine. This is a food wine for seasonal dishes with balanced flavors.
