Cusumano Estate Bottled Terre Siciliane IGT Merlot 2017
Review
If you've seen this wine around, and have been sleeping on it, next round you should grab it. This Merlot shows the wonders of the Mediterranean climate, allowing it to show its lean side, due to the pronounced acidity. It is round and juicy with notes of white pepper and clove alongside plum and a hint of anise. You have never had a Merlot like this, and at $10 a bottle, yeah it’s not crazy complex, but it will soon be your go-to for all kinds of get together's and meals, as it pairs with all of that noise. Oh, and it has one of those cool vacuum sealed glass closures which is always a fun party trick as you clamp it back on the bottle and turn it upside down, freaking out your guests who breathe a sigh of relief and clap when the glass cap holds. Win win.
