Component Petit Verdot 2019 Review
Petit Verdot’s destiny in the Bordeaux region of France is to be a blending partner, adding complexity to a wine. But here in the U.S., we have shown that this grape can shine on its own. And with this one hundred percent varietal wine by Michael Kennedy, it has never shone so brightly. This wine is impeccably balanced. It has beautiful tight fruit with a welcome study in blackberry aroma. It’s a young wine, so the tannins are still a bit cranky but will melt into the wine over time. It is still drinking so well right now, though, with a soft kiss of sweetness that will excite the palate. California is so diverse in grape varieties, but it takes a skilled hand like Michael’s to bring the likes of Petit Verdot to the center stage. Bravo.
