Colterenzio-Schreckbichl Altkirch Chardonnay 2017 Review
Northern Italian whites are all about mountain fruit that hangs at high elevations retaining acidity and developing sugars gradually, resulting in crisp, bracing wines that have verve and backbone. This bottle is a great place to start, with white peach and hints of tangerine mingling with a heightened perception of wet flint rock. The palate brings in some earthy brine of hawthorn with notes of dill and a slight creaminess that's tinged with jasmine. This wine is not only a work horse for social gatherings (it will raise eyebrows cuz it’s delicious and has a screw cap) but can hang with any spring and summer seasonal dishes.
