Clif Family Winery Napa Valley Viognier 2018 Review

This viognier is crazy. It’s dense and viscous (oily) on the palate, but with low residual sugar (natural sugar post fermentation) making it dry and not too sweet. That small window is where this grape does best in places like California. This wine is right in the window, with aromas of apricot, orange blossom and a skosh of ginger. The mouthfeel makes you want to chew on it. The alcohol is high, but well integrated. Roast or grill some vegetables, get some local cheese, and this wine will be a great companion.
