Charles Krug Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Review
Back in the scrappy days of post-prohibition Napa Valley, the Mondavi family bought Charles Krug Winery. It was once owned by the namesake who was one of the first wine consultants of the region in the Gold Rush era, in 1943. They continue to be stewards of this historic property and, being Napa, of course they have a few Cabs. There's a lot of history here and this bottle is a great place to start. The nose has hints of blackberries and a hint of thyme with some vanilla and oak spice. The palate is structured with firm tannins woven into concentrated fruit. It’s a big wine but balanced enough for a weeknight steak.
