Carmel Road Monterey Chardonnay 2017 Review
No toast or vanilla here. This a good example of what Chardonnay does behind the scenes without oak influence. Chardonnay will almost always be deep and round, but without wood it is high-toned and refreshing, like this bottle with breezy inherent aromas of green apple and lemon/lime citrus. The acidity is nice and high so the notes of ripe pineapple and the tangy side of acacia make a well-settled appearance. This wine is not afraid of being exposed and is confident that at $15 (and having a screw cap) this could be your next last minute go-to.
