Blažič Sauvignon 2019 Review

The Blažič winery has been making wine and farming in Slovenia since the late nineteenth century when owner Borut’s great-grandfather left Austria-Hungary and bought a terraced farm. Originally strictly a skin contact winery, Borut has since decided to balance their line up with some white wines. This is one of them and, wow, is it good. There is slight oxidation that is helped by a nice waft of honey, ginger, and melon alongside some intriguing savory notes. The palate is rich and grippy with impeccable balance for a wine that has seen a few years in bottle.
