Âmevive Albariño 2024 Review

Winemaker Alice Anderson and her partner Topher de Felice craft refined, expressive wines across California’s Central Coast. The pair works with a wide range of grape varieties and sustainably farmed sites — like this stunning Albariño from the biodynamic Martian Ranch Vineyard. This site sits in the Alisos Canyon AVA, right between the Santa Ynez Valley AVA and Santa Maria AVAs, sharing some of each area’s characteristics: getting warm during the day and cooling off with coastal fog in the evening. While Albariño might not exactly spring to mind when thinking of the intricate terroirs of Santa Barbara County, this expression from Âmevive makes a compelling case for the variety here. It has a salty, floral nose with notes of lemon zest and stone fruit. The palate is incredibly bright and vibrant, with freshly squeezed citrus and juicy peach flavors complemented by verdant notes of lime and herbs. The finish brings quenching acidity and a pleasant, creamy texture.
