Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching, and you’re going to want a wine that pairs well with all aspects of the meal, from start to finish. In this category, Pinot Noir is an excellent choice. Its bright acidity, soft tannins and delicious fruit flavors go extremely well with everything on the table, from the turkey to the sides and pies. And since Thanksgiving is an American holiday, why not serve an American made wine?
The Artesa Carneros Pinot Noir fits this criteria perfectly, and at a price point of $21, you can buy enough wine to last throughout the meal without breaking the bank. The winery is owned by the Raventos family who run the Cordiniu group, the producers of Spain’s most popular sparkling wine. The family has been making wine in Spain since 1872, and in 1991 they opened Artesa- which means craftsman in Catalan – in the Napa Valley.
The wine pours a light red in the glass and is translucent enough to see through – already a sign that the wine is high in acidity. It immediately gives off aromas of strawberries, red cherries and raspberries with a light amount of vanilla. On the palate the wine is incredibly smooth and light, with berry flavors and a bit of chocolate. This is truly an easy drinking wine.
Drink this wine throughout your Thanksgiving meal, or anytime this season that you’re serving poultry and savory sides. And of course, don’t forget the pie!
