The Story Behind The Spicy Ancho Chile Daiquiri

Today I'm sharing a twist on the traditional daiquiri with the addition of the newly released Ancho Reyes Verde. The limited edition Ancho Reyes Verde liqueur is made from early harvest poblano chilies and has a much more subtle and fresh flavor than anything I've ever tasted. When visiting Mexico this summer, I was able to acquire a first-release bottle and became obsessed with experimenting with it in every cocktail I was making. One of my favorites was this daiquiri variation because the Ancho Reyes Verde really adds a tantalizing peppery taste that leads to a nice, clean finish when mixed with white rum. Go grab a bottle!

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce rum
  • 1 ounce of Ancho Reyes Verde
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • ½ ounce of simple syrup
  • 1 cup ice

Directions

  1. Combine rum, lime juice, simple syrup, Ancho Reyes Verde, and ice in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Shake to chill and combine ingredients and strain into serving glass.
  3. Garnish with a fresh chile.
