The Story Behind The Gentlemen’s Date

Developed by the team at New York’s Yoon Haeundae Galbi, the Gentlemen’s Date is a riff on the classic Manhattan, best enjoyed on cold nights around the holidays. The cocktail takes on a more seasonal profile than the Manhattan thanks to the addition of cinnamon for an extra spice-forward kick. With a bit of jujube syrup in the mix — which adds a crisp, refreshing flavor similar to that of red apples — the cocktail takes on a slightly sweet edge that perfectly balances some of its more bitter ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Bulleit Rye Whiskey
  • ½ ounce jujube syrup
  • 4 dashes orange bitters
  • A pinch of ground cinnamon
  • Garnish: torched orange peel and one date

Directions

  1. In a snifter glass, combine Bulleit, jujube syrup, bitters, and cinnamon.
  2. Add ice and stir.
  3. Garnish with a torched orange peel and one date.
