Born in the golden age of aviation, the Air Mail combines rum, lime, honey, and Champagne and packages it as a beautiful, effervescent mix that promises glamor and cross-continental connections. In many ways, the cocktail can be viewed as a sibling of the French 75 and a precursor to the Old Cuban — a cocktail named for the same country where the Air Mail’s story beings.

Today on the “Cocktail College” podcast, Tim McKirdy is joined by Leanne Favre of Brooklyn’s Dolores to discuss the Air Mail. The two explore the drink’s Cuban roots, its place between the French 75 and the Old Cuban, and all the various ways to reimagine it today. Tune in for more.
