Nick Jonas is the latest celebrity to take a plunge into the agave-based-spirits business. Following in the footsteps of George Clooney, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Aaron Paul and Brian Cranston, the singer-songwriter today announced the launch of Villa One Tequila.

Founded in partnership with fashion designer John Varvatos, and launching with the help of the Stoli Group (of Stolichnaya Vodka fame), Villa One was inspired by a 2017 trip to Mexico, where Jonas and Varvatos experienced “life as it should be,” according to an email press release.

The “ultra-premium” tequila brand will begin a national U.S. rollout in September, offering blanco, reposado, and añejo expressions. Each is bottled at 40-percent ABV, with prices ranging from $45 for the blanco to $60 for the añejo.

The duo partnered with the Stoli Group to help with distribution and marketing, while the Fabrica de Tequilas Finos distillery, located in Jalisco, Mexico, is handling production. Jonas and Varvatos took control of the bottle-design, which features intricate metalwork on the bottle’s neck — a “signature style” of Varvatos’ designs.

“When we brought our friends together over tequila in Mexico, we learned that we share the same values – enjoying time with friends and family, old and new, one glass at a time,” Jonas said. “When it came to Villa One, it was critical to us that we take part in the decision-making process every step of the way and, now, we feel that this is exactly the tequila we sought out to create more than two years ago.”

The real star of this lineup, however, is master distiller Arturo Fuentes. Known as “the godfather of tequila,” Fuentes has more than three decades of distilling experience. He crafts Villa One using artisanal well water and sustainably-sourced 100-percent blue weber agave.

At the time of publishing, Villa One’s official launch date remains unknown.
