After a huge year for its hard seltzer line, Corona will release new flavors and an “exciting new hard seltzer initiative” in 2021.
Last year, Corona was named the world’s most valuable beer brand by Brand Finance and sold over 10 million cases of hard seltzer, according to CNBC. On Jan. 7, the news outlet also announced that Corona is gearing up for the launch of a second variety pack, with new flavors coming in the early fiscal year 2022.
Following email communication with a representative from Corona’s parent company Constellation Brands, VinePair can reveal those flavors will be Pineapple, Strawberry, Raspberry, and Passion Fruit. The spokesperson confirmed “Variety Pack #2” will arrive early next fiscal year (so any time after March) and revealed the release will be followed shortly thereafter by “the introduction of another exciting new hard seltzer initiative.”
While Constellation Brands declined to share more info, all signs seem to point to the new initiative being a hard seltzer lemonade.
On Monday morning, Beer Business Daily all but confirmed it in its (paywalled) email newsletter sharing a photo of the prospective 12-pack and four new flavors: Classic Lemon, Lime Lemonade, Strawberry Lemonade, Grapefruit Lemonade, and Watermelon Lemonade.
If Corona were to soon enter the hard seltzer lemonade market, it would follow hot on the heels of Bud Light’s recent announcement and create yet another competitor for the current champion Truly.
In 2020, Truly captured a 10 percent market share of the entire hard seltzer category with its hard seltzer lemonades, released in early 2020.
Proving that it is one step ahead of the game, Truly recently introduced a line of hard seltzer iced teas at a time when so many other brands are playing catch up on hard seltzer lemonade.
Now, fans can only sit back and wait for Truly to secure a partnership with Twitter’s favorite influencer: Ice T.
