It’s hard to imagine a less predictable year than 2020 is shaping up to be. From the looming threat of devastating tariffs to the potential upheaval of the American presidential election, from devastating fires in Australia to unseasonably warm temperatures in much of the eastern United States, this year seems likely to be a wild ride. That said, it’s possible to get a sense for a few drinking trends that are taking shape: Hard seltzer seems poised to cement its place as a year-round drink, bitter is back and bigger than ever, and the democratization of the craft cocktail bar is in full swing.
