A Cocktail for Every Type of Football Fan [Infographic]

There are still plenty of Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays left before the Super Bowl to cheer on your favorite football team — or pick a new one to root for!

When hosting a watch party, you need to prepare for all the types of football fans out there. From die-hard devotees to Sunday Funday socializers, not all fans are created equal, so we’re sharing our list of top cocktails for every type of game day guest. 

The Super Fan: Paloma

Perfect for the fan who knows every player, position and stat about their beloved team, the paloma is a tried and true cocktail — no-frills and loyal to a fault. You always know you’re going to get the same refreshing taste no matter who makes it. 

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. Don Julio Blanco Tequila
  • 2 oz. Grapefruit Juice
  • 1 oz. Soda Water
  • 1 tbsp. Fresh Lime Juice
  • 1 tbsp. Simple Syrup
  • Grapefruit Slice Garnish

Instructions

  1. In a rocks glass, add tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice and simple syrup, and stir to combine.
  2. Add ice and top with soda water.
  3. Garnish with a slice of grapefruit.

Serves 1

The Bandwagon Fan: Mojito 

A mojito cocktail is the perfect go-to for those who find themselves a bit indecisive. For the fan who switches their loyalty to a team every week, this has all the elements of a game winning drink — sweet, sour, fizzy and fresh. 

Ingredients 

  • 1 oz. Zacapa 23 Rum
  • 1 oz. Soda Water
  • 0.5 tbsp. Simple Syrup
  • 0.5 tbsp. Fresh Lime Juice
  • 3 Mint Leaves 
  • Mint Leaf Garnish 

Instructions

  1. Combine mint leaves and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker and muddle.
  2. Add rum and lime juice.
  3. Shake and strain into a highball glass with ice.
  4. Top with soda water.
  5. Garnish with a mint leaf.

The “Coach” Fan: Moscow Mule

Mule cocktails, made with ginger beer, indicate a spicy personality. This fan will spend all four quarters calling plays, critiquing drives and slandering the front office. The only thing they’re missing is a clipboard and a headset.

Ingredients 

  • 1 oz. Ketel One Vodka
  • 2 oz. Ginger Beer
  • 1 tbsp. Fresh Lime Juice
  • Lime Slice Garnish

Instructions

  1. In a copper mug, combine vodka, ginger beer and lime juice.
  2. Add ice and stir to mix.
  3. Garnish with a lime slice.

The “Hustler” Fan: Spicy Margarita

A margarita with a touch of heat can turn any watch party up in an instant. Like a spicy marg, this fan always brings a bit of sass and spice wherever they go, challenging the most gullible in the room to a challenge they know they can’t lose. 

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. Casamigos Reposado Tequila
  • 0.5 tbsp. Orange Liqueur
  • 1 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
  • 0.5 tbsp. Simple Syrup 
  • Tajín (Spice Mix) Rim (Optional) 
  • Lime Slice Garnish  

Instructions

  1. Take a lime slice and wet the rim of a margarita or rocks glass.
  2. Dust with Tajín and set aside.
  3. Combine tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice.
  4. Shake and strain into the rimmed margarita or rocks glass.
  5. Garnish with a lime slice.

Serves 1

The ‘Yay, Go Sports’ Fan: Gin & Tonic

For the fan who is just there for the snacks and vibes, a G+T keeps things simple and pleasant. 

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a highball glass with ice, add gin and tonic.
  2. Stir to combine.
  3. Garnish with a lime wedge.
