This episode of The Buildout is brought to you by Farmer’s Gin. It’s brought to you by the same amazing people that brought you Michter’s, and it’s actually the gin that I use at home for my Martinis. It’s clean, crisp, unfussy — perfect for building any kind of Martini that you would like. Farmer’s Gin is made in Idaho at the first organic distillery in the United States. It’s made using Regenerative Organic Certified grain that’s grown on a family farm. It has notes of juniper, elderflower, lemongrass, coriander, rose and angelica root. It is good for the planet, and great for Martinis. You can learn more by following Farmer’s Gin on their socials — @FarmersGin — or heading to farmersgin.com to learn more.
New York Distilling Company emerged as a result of New York’s cocktail renaissance. Founded by Allen Katz, an entrepreneur obsessed with cocktails and the bars creating them, the distillery sought out to specifically target New York-based bartenders. Katz also turned New York Distilling into a destination for the liquid-curious, opening a hands-on experience in Williamsburg for both aficionados and novices. Since its founding, the brand has become a mainstay behind bars across New York, but Katz always believed it could become something bigger — an ambition ultimately led him to sell the company.
On this episode of “The Buildout,” Allen joins Adam to discuss founding one of New York State’s first distilleries after Prohibition, building the brand, and preparing it to go global.
