Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Review
As its name suggests, this release is an oak bomb. The double maturation process enriches Woodford Reserve's already flavorful whiskey with endless layers of vanilla, butterscotch, toffee popcorn, and char. The latter adds textural complexity, though it remains a very approachable bourbon all round.
Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Pros And Cons
Pros
- Enriched flavor profile thanks to double aging
- Nice textural complexity
- Profile remains approachable
Cons
- Heavy oak aging masks certain qualities from mash bill and fermentation
- Some may find it to be too oaky
