Tilia Vipava Valley Sivi Pinot 2016 Review
70 miles from Venice in the southwestern Vipava Valley in Slovenia, Pinot Grigio goes by a different name: Sivi Pinot. And at Tilia, it is a completely different wine. Raised in stainless steel and lees aged for 4 months brings nuance and depth to a grape that often lacks these characteristics. This wine is fat, round, and juicy, yet balanced and with vibrant acidity promoting the quenching pear and subtle sage aromas swimming with stone fruit and clean minerality. If I see this on a wine list, and am with a group of friends, I would not hesitate to order it.
