The Midnight Silkie Irish Whiskey
Review
Crafted from a blend of triple-distilled whiskeys, this release combines five single malts, each of which aged in different types of barrel. One of the five malts (aged in bourbon casks) is peated, while another proportion of the blend aged in Imperial Stout casks. This combination, along with the three other components of the blend, yields an attractively smoky whiskey that's reminiscent of some of the finest malts from Islay, Scotland. Vanilla-poached pears dance with wafts of bonfire smoke on the nose. Meanwhile, the palate lands with a decadent richness, and complex flavors of dark chocolate, dried fruit, and oak. The finish is long, satisfying, and decidedly smoky..
