Sokol Blosser Estate Dundee Hills Chardonnay 2017 Review

For an Estate blend this is lean and clean with elegance, finesse, and restraint not often seen with this grape in the U.S. The wine leads with a comfy nose of soft butter and green apple notes, seamlessly folding into the earthy sweetness of jasmine and lemongrass. On the palate the wine is angled and refreshing, with excellent mountain-spring acidity lifting up aromas carried from the nose, joining hints of toasted nutmeg from the oak. This wine begs the question: with or without food? The delicacy of the wine calls for sharing it with friends, watching it evolve in the glass or over a Spring/Summer table with said friends and a seasonal spread. Maybe just grab a couple bottles and do both!
