Ritual Chardonnay 2017 Review
Using sustainable practices on all levels makes this wine balanced even with a high alcohol content, which is a hard thing to achieve. Sofia Araya has a deft hand in this, using concrete eggs to move the wine around as it develops into one hell of a food wine. Deep and rich, yet clean and vibrant, this wine opens with classic pear/apple notes moving around citrus-driven lemon curd and ripe pineapple. The palate brings on the earthier side of hawthorn (briny earthy) and some toasted hazelnut. The rich side of the wine calls for food in the form of a busy salad with some bitter notes to contrast.
