Shiner Wicked Juicy IPA
Review
Spoetzl takes a daring risk with Shiner Wicked Juicy IPA, by both emulating and poking fun at the powerhouse New England-style IPA. It's a joke that misses the mark: The beer pours a deep brownish-gold, sporting a rocky, cream-colored head. The aroma is not tropical, but earthy and sweet – wet metal and wet leaves come to mind, along with English malt — and hops aromas are hiding, if present, behind a heavy malt-driven body and bitter finish. Wicked Juicy's flavor — and eventually, aroma — are fruity enough, but certainly not juicy. The only wicked thing about it is its trend-seeking trickery.
