Portillo Malbec 2020 Review

Bodegas Salentein is a temple of innovation. The winery was built from local materials in the high desert of the Uco Valley. The facility was constructed on a slope to encourage gravity to move liquid through the winemaking process. Depending on the style they are going for, each gravity channel feeds to either oak barrels or stainless steel tanks; the Portillo was raised in the latter. What they are doing works because this very affordable Malbec has the vibes of a more expensive wine. Floral on the nose with some orange peel pushing through the fruit. It is soft and fruity with some baby tannins that are slightly drying. This is a case buy if there ever was one.
