Podere Poggio Scalette Chianti Classico DOCG 2017 Review

Extreme tangy-ness, briny ripe cherries, and floral notes dominate this Classico from the Greve township with the acidity at an all time high and the tannins struggling to be heard. There is an underlying forest floor aroma, but it is fleeting. This wine is quite young but it should be consumed soon as the fruit notes seem delicate enough that in a few years they’ll be gone. It feels like the balance here is on the edge of falling apart, yet somehow all the characteristics are holding in place. Buy now, drink now.
