Montevina Terra d'Oro Zinfandel 2016 Review
You get the peppery blackberry notes that are inherent with this grape but then something happens. On the palate the wine is smooth and slathered with oak showing sweet saccharine vanilla, and with the alcohol so high that blackberry fruit aroma becomes stewed with dark roasted coffee that creates almost a burnt note. It’s under $20 and has enough balance, but I feel like this bottle should be relegated strictly to backyard BBQs as it will match the sweetness of your secret sauce.
