Method and Madness Rye and Malt Irish Whiskey Review

Irish Distillers International Limited may be best known as the parent company of brands such as Jameson and Redbreast, but its experimental project Method and Madness is worthy of a good share of recognition. Made at the brand’s Midleton microdistillery, this innovative whiskey contains a mash bill of 60 percent rye and 40 percent malted barley — a notable outlier if not downright unique in the space — which is double distilled and aged in ex-bourbon casks. A creamy, cereal-forward nose begins the experience, followed by a sweet palate that shines with bright stone fruit and spice. Bottled at 46 percent ABV, it delivers ample concentration without requiring dilution.
