Maine Beer Co. Lunch IPA
Review
Lunch is a reminder of exactly how balanced NEIPA can be. The gimmick-free New England IPA staple is malt- and hop-driven in equal measure, with hop character just barely exceeding that of an American Pale Ale, and confidently so. Precision in the grist and hop selection and scheduling is on my mind as I smell and sip this beer, because each ingredient is in harmony. The mouthfeel is medium and delicate, and the herbal, fruity character is joined by a cooked caramel malty note that dances, without ever stomping, on the palate. A truly remarkable IPA.
