Holmes Cay Reunion Island Rum Agricole Review
This standout agricole hailing from the Indian Ocean island of Réunion begins with umami-forward notes ranging from mushrooms to olives and soy sauce before transitioning to a bouquet of tropical fruit and wildflowers. In some ways, it more closely resembles a complex mezcal, sans smoke. On the palate, things lean back into more familiar rum territory, closing out with searing intensity and a seemingly endless finish. Produced at the Distillerie de Savanna and bottled in New York, this rum's profile is an outlier in the best way possible.
