Hanna Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2017 Review

Christine Hanna has a magic touch. Chardonnay from Russian River Valley can be high alcohol at times and getting the right balance is key to denying said alcohol’s domination of the wine. Here is a great example of how it should be done. There is an earthiness to this wine with notes of fig, beeswax and a hint of lemon tinged with butterscotch. As it opens in the glass honeysuckle and cannabis vibes stop by to say hi. The palate is just right, with good weight and a nice broad mouthfeel that absolutely does not overwhelm, but just hangs out with excellent acidity for a medium saline finish. Don’t walk away from this wine because of the screw cap; it’s better than most examples with this high of an ABV and a true food white.
