Gouden Carolus Single Malt
Review
As if an homage to its Belgian origin, this single malt draws much inspiration from beer. Made by the Het Anker brewery, the whisky borrows its name and mash bill from the producer's Gouden Carolus Tripel beer. Its profile lands firmly on the rich and decadent end of the single malt spectrum, the product of dual aging periods in first-fill bourbon casks and then “Anker '' barrels (casks that were repurposed to the brewery's specific requirements). While well-rounded, approachable, and smooth sipping, the palate offers no shortage of flavor or depth.
