Gigondas LaCave Cuvée du Président 2021 Review
Gigondas is one of the recognized crus in France's Southern Rhône, known for its bold red blends. Even though it's not as famous as its more prestigious neighbor, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the wines of Gigondas can offer a similar experience at a more approachable price tag. The wines must be at least 50 percent Grenache and are typically blended with Syrah and Mourvèdre, like this delicious bottle. Deep fruit notes of blackberries, raspberries, and black currants are complemented by savory hints of licorice, spices, and campfire smoke. It's a bold, full-bodied wine, but is well-balanced by great acidity and well-integrated tannins.
