Gagnon-Kennedy Vineyards ‘Revolver’ Zinfandel 2020 Review

Marc Gagnon and Michael Kennedy are Napa Valley explorers. In a wine region that has some of the most famous vineyards in the U.S., this duo is more comfortable in the humble plots of land that have stood the test of time and represent the rich history of this wine zone. The older the vine, the more tied to Napa's history, the better. And what grape is more tied to this land than the Zinfandel grape, a variety that was front and center until Cab was king? From the mountaintops to the Valley floor, Zin was everywhere. The Revolver comes from Zinfandel vines planted in 1886 and shows this grape's true nature. It is bright and juicy with a glorious absence of too much oak. The nose is ripe plums and blackberries. On the palate, the Revolver really shines with a quenching and excellent bloom of natural acidity blossoming out from the core of fruit. America still makes great Zinfandel. Let this be the wine the bottle that sets your standard.
