Gabaxo Rioja 2019 Review

Olivier Rivière is going his own way. Born and raised in Bordeaux, his inherent ideas of terroir have led him, along with a sustainable mindset, to venture beyond the Rioja border to find new spots to blend into his wines. When you put your nose into the glass, all of this will makes sense. The blend from multiple properties has a wonderful, savory nose and deep fruit with herbs and spice. With that depth comes some minerality as well (one panel taster said early morning rain - YES!). The palate is savory as well with soft woven tannins and subtle peppery notes. This wine screams grilled lamb, please.
