Forlorn Hope Petite Voile Chardonnay 2018 Review
Petit Voile means small veil, and this name is a nod to how this wine was made. In 2019, Vigneron Matthew Rorick and winemaker Mara Ambrose found a neglected barrel of Chardonnay in the Forlorn Hope winery that had been protected by a thin veil of yeast. The result was a unique wine with complex oxidative notes and great balance, and they wanted to share it with the world. It has a delightfully salty nose with subtle floral aromas. The palate offers extreme balance between rich fruit, savory notes, and acidity.
